Facebook Using Adverting Modestly

Facebook came out with a new look this week and many people have been expressing whether they like the new look or not. This new look brought to my attention how Facebook since the beginning has done a good job having adverting on their page but not overwhelming the page. I think Facebook has done an amazing job of not crossing the line to make people feel like they're being sold every time they log in their page. This is important for adverting on pages like Facebook, the user does not want to feel like they are being marketed. Facebook could easily fill their page with ads and make more money but I feel this would push people away from it. I think finding a good blend between the information on your page and the ads on your page are very important in this new wave on adverting on the internet.

Professional Athletes Using Twitter As A Tool.

The rise of Twitter has blown through professional sports like a wildfire since it's birth. Today almost every professional no matter the sport, and even none professional athlete has a twitter account. The names that come to mind about using Twitter are athletes like Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chad Ochocinco of the New England Patriots, and one of my favorite professional golfers Ricky Fowler.

In my opinion I have nothing against athletes using Twitter. I believe this is a great tool for athletes to connect to their fans. We tend to forget that no matter what the professional sport is when it comes down to it any professional sport is a business. The goal of business is to accentually make money. Using Twitter is a great way for the athletes to connect with fans with in a business sense are their clients.

Using Twitter as a tool like a business allows athletes to keep fans updated on what's going on and express how they feel about certain situations. The example to comes to mind is Kevin Durant using twitter to let Oklahoma City Thunder fans that he had signed an extension deal with the Thunder and was here to stay! I also believe that athletes can use Twitter like a business does to damage control. When a problem arises Twitter allows fans to see them apologize, or update them on what is going on. Twitter is growing as a tool for businesses more and more everyday and is a great way for the professional athletes to keep in touch with their clients a.k.a their fans.

Facebook Court Case

In Connecticut, Dawnmarie Souza a woman working for ambulance service was fired for making negative comments on her Facebook page about her bosses. She was fired on the grounds that her comments violated the company's Internet Posting Policy. The court ruled that this policy was a "unlawful" due to the National Labor Relations Act, which gives employees the right to discuss "the terms and conditions of their employment with others."
This case raises the question about social network, being a bad thing  for business. I think that the firing of Mrs. Souza was unlawful and employees should not face punishment for their actions on social network sites. In America you have the right to be critical and speak your mind about our President and our government. If we have the right to do these things, making comments about a boss on a social network site should not effect our employment, nor should anyone get fired because of actions like this. If we can be critical of our leaders and our government, we should also have to right to speak our mind on a social network site.
